During the summer of 2010 I was in Finland visiting my extended family, as I typically do each summer. One of my students back in the States sent out an email about a book called ‘5 Bucks a Day’ by someone named Dennis Becker. I was curious and purchased it that day. This opened my mind up to new possibilities and I began to implement what Dennis was sharing in that book.

Two months later, near the end of September, 2010 I was in Austin, Texas attending Ryan Deiss’ ‘Traffic & Conversion Summit’. Dennis sent out an email saying he was at the conference and I hit ‘reply’ to tell him I was there as well. We agreed to meet the following morning at the coffee break. I was anxious to meet Dennis, but he did not appear to find me particularly interesting. I could see that he was shy, but that didn’t seem to be the whole story. I found out months later that he had had a medical emergency the day before and had spent much of the day in the emergency room of a local hospital.

Soon after I became his affiliate so I could share his thoughts and ideas on building a successful online business with my own community, and that’s when I became a part of his forum and membership group at Earn 1K a Day. After a month or so of going through his training and posting in the forum, the thought finally struck me that I could actually earn a thousand dollars a day on a regular basis by using his strategies in my own business. These days that is a regular occurrence for me, but back then it was pretty rare.

My theory is that the sales page will convert much better as a fixed term membership, since people will know that their payments are an investment in a business asset, and end in less than a year, rather than a monthly expense that will never end.

Even with the fact that my recurring income might be less, I will continue to maintain and enhance the site in the same manner that I always have.

The sales page has also been rewritten to focus on what new members will receive immediately after joining, rather than on fuzziness like access to potential JV partners, the ability to ask any kind of question, how the coaching will give them shortcuts to success, etc.

Those thing are still there, but my feeling is that people like to know what’s definitely in the box for them, and save the surprises, that they may or may not need, for later.

I’ve also added one major new bundle to the “box” today, which has always been sold separately, and that’s access to the Daily Seminar sessions, all 165 of them. They were a membership site of supreme goodiness at one point, with members paying $47/month for 13 months.
